Is it ever possible to have too much screen? Samsung's new curved gaming monitor may have the answer. The 49-inch, 32:9 display may in fact be too large to fit on your desk.
But if you can make room for it, you'll get the sort of ludicrous wrap-around view that can only be rivalled by strapping a headset to your face.
With a resolution of 3840 x 1080, the CHG90 is effectively two HD displays that have been fused together and curved. So while, yes, it is unspeakable large, it actually has less pixels than a 4K display, which means it shouldn't require a super computer to game on it.
It would obviously be ideal for racing sims or other games that support a multi-screen mode, but you might be hard pressed to find many titles that actually support its wild 32:9 aspect ratio in a satisfying way.
You could, of course, always just put a full-sized movie next to your full-sized game if you're into that. Also you can look at a whole heck of a lot of Excel at once:
The CHG90 is available to pre-order in the US right now for the princely sum of $1,500, although UK availability and prices are yet to be sketched out, but the exchange rate isn't going to do you any favours.
Either way, it's going to probably cost you more than your computer itself, but it seems fun if you can afford it. And fit it on your desk.
