We consume news for all kinds of sources, whether it be from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, emails or messages from friends, or platforms like Google News, there are just so many places to get your news from that users are more or less spoilt for choice.
So then the onus falls onto the various platforms to make their outlet more attractive to users.
Google is working towards that as they have announced that they have redesigned Google News and given it a new look.
“Every day people come to Google News for a trusted view of the world. It’s there for everything from moments of political change to gripping sports events to daily local news. To make news more accessible and easier to navigate, we redesigned the desktop website with a renewed focus on facts, diverse perspectives, and more control for users.”
According to Google, some of the changes to the design of Google News includes the adoption of the card format that they claim will make it easier to browse and find related news about a story. It will also change the emphasis and focuses on publisher names and article labels, and also a customizable navigation column to the left of the website to help users jump to sections that they prefer.
The changes are already live and are making their way across the world, so if you don’t see it yet not to worry as it should eventually find its way to you. In the meantime for those who do have it, what do you guys think of the new look?
