Facebook-owned Instant messaging app -WhatsApp- has been updated with new announcement, which is also a good news that the app will continue to support older versions of Android till 2020. Wow!!!, that's really a great news to people who still use Android 2.0 downwards.
The official statement was made after announcing the extension given to Blackberry and S40 users to support Whatsapp till the end of this year 2017.
If you recall, back in February last year, WhatsApp said they'll stop supporting Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 (and some other, non-Android platforms) by the end of 2016. But a quick look at the same source now reveals users will be able to use Whatsapp on "Android versions 2.3.7 and older" till February 1, 2020.
If you still operate an Android version of 2.0 downwards, you will keep using Whatsapp until the said deadline; but wait, there's more, the company also added that you may not be able to enjoy all latest and greatest WhatsApp features because they no longer actively release new versions of Whatsapp for these phones.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT?
First of all, looking at the deadline above, i think the grace is really enough for you to upgrade your phone if you still operate a phone running on Android 2.0 downwards, i.e: you have about 2years to get a better phone that runs on Android 4.0 or 5.1 at least.
