That’s because arguably the UK’s most affordable smartphone tariff has just launched.
Offering unlimited calls and unlimited texts alongside a modest 500MB monthly data allowance, the cost effective deal will hit wannabe owners for just £5 per month.
What’s more, the deal can be bundled with all manner of phones, including the high-end likes of the iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S7.
As an extra bonus, those plumping for the new wallet-friendly tariff won’t be limited to using their data plan in the UK.
Instead, with roaming fees having been waved, those signed up to the deal are able to use their inclusively monthly data, calls and texts in 36 European countries at not extra cost.
As always, however, there is a catch.
In order to get unlimited calls and texts bundled in with the unwavering data plan, you’ll need to be a paid up Sky TV subscriber.
Those not signed up to one of Sky’s costly TV deals will need to pay for calls and texts on a pay-as-you-use basis.
For those with more sizeable call and text needs, an unlimited bundle can also be added, although the £10 fee makes that initial £5 deal somewhat less enticing.
What’s more, while 500MB might not be the biggest data allowance, according to research by Kantar Media, with more than a quarter of UK smartphone owners currently have a data allowance of less than 1GB, it should be ample for many.
" Our new tariff gives even better value to Sky TV customers as they
can now get 500MB of data with Unlimited Calls and Texts for only £5 a
month,” said Sky’s Director of Mobile, Liz Wynn.
She added: “It’s also available with all our handset and Sky Mobile now offers the lowest monthly price with no upfront costs compared to major networks across our full range of phones with prices starting from just £12.50 per month.”
As an added sweetener, any unused data you have at the end of the month doesn’t go to waste.
Instead, all unused data goes into your Sky Piggybank and is available whenever you need it for up to three years.
